Purpose: This study changes in the error correction and the speed of reading at near with 15% and 30% tinted lenses that can be purchased an eyeglasses store with ease are investigated.
Methods: The error correction and the reading speed expressed in words per minute have been measured for the lenses with the colors of blue, green, yellow and red and the density of 15% and 30% in 28 university students of male and female.
Result: After measuring the words per minute speed of reading, based on N-0 (110.607 word/min), it was increase in the order of 125.928 (word/min) in G-15, 126.464 (word/min) in B-30 and 127.428 (word/min) in G-30. For the required time of error correction, based on N-0 (1.331, sec), it has shown a decrease of 1.3261 (sec) in B-30 and 1.3282 (sec) in R-15. For the accuracy of error correction, it was the highest in G-15 with 95.357 (%) but has shown similar low degree in G-30 (90.357%) and Y-30 (90.357%) but still higher than the standard N-0 with 77.857 (%).
Conclusion: The accuracy of error correction and speed of reading has significantly increase according to the colors and density of tinted lenses. Especially, when comparing B-30 with R-15, B-30 had decrease required time of error correction, same accuracy of error correction and speed of reading increase, it seems good for an eyeglasses store to recommend that they wear tinted lenses (B-30) at the time of visual at near.
